"Lately it occurs to me what a long, strange trip its been."

As summer makes it’s great surge across North America, it’s hard to know where the days go. June has brought sunny day after sunny day to the places I’ve spent my time.

The west coast is really proving to be a wonderland for exploring the great outdoors. We learned all about this on a recent trip to San Juan Island in Washington State to kayak, camp and disconnect.

A quick stop in Ottawa with ivivva to share some soccer and sport love with girls was a highlight. The glimmering canal is looking especially lovely at this time of the year. It was a pleasure to meet the Fury FC’s Elite Girls Academy and their Head Coach, Audra Sherman. She embodies everything a coach should. Watch for her name in the future of soccer in this country.

We had the privilege to see my friend, Sasha Gollish, fulfill her dream and qualify for the Pan Am Games in Toronto in July in the 1500m at the Harry Jerome International Track Classic, what a wild ride it’s been for her. Big month ahead!

I squeezed in a quick trip to Toronto. The city is buzzing right now. I had the chance to see Ben and Ali race on the Leslie Spit in a super cool MEC race (hello, massive PB for Benny! 1:20:12). We also dipped our feet in Lake Ontario, ate tasty eats in the Beaches, enjoyed good company, caught a NXNE show, biked the city, ate Pho & cones, threw a Frisbee in Christie Pits and got a few runs in. Typical days of summer solstice in the city that I love so much.

Looking ahead to my upcoming travel to Florida, making a return to running post-marathon, gearing up for more World Cup action and planning out future adventures for the coming summer months.

Savour the days and make time matter. It’s a strange road but it’s a great one.
